Josh Hotchkiss Linebacker Scholarship

The Josh Hotchkiss Linebacker Scholarship has been established by the mother of Josh Hotchkiss, Marcia Landwehr, and Josh to provide scholarship assistance to Western Colorado University students participating on the football team. Josh is a native of Gunnison, who grew up watching the Mountaineers and had the unique opportunity to be part of Western football for years before he wore the uniform. He knew the great history of the program and the talent that came before him four RMAC titles and three National Playoff appearances. He was proud to carry the torch for all of them from 1997-2001 and tried to emulate what the players before him had accomplished the Western tradition of winning.

Mountaineer Bowl is the only home stadium Josh knew from high school through his college career a nine year football relationship with the Gunnison Country. Josh says, "Mountaineer Bowl on Saturdays “¦nothing like it!” He walked out of the Bowl for the last time as a player in November 10, 2001. Josh attributes his success to hard work on the field and in the weight room, commitment to the game and to his team, and the relationships with the coaches and players.

Josh was inducted into the RMAC Hall of Fame in 2009 and Western’sin 2012, and currently holds the record for number of tackles (504) for Western. Josh has a strong commitment to the football program at Western and wants to give back to Western football in the form of this linebacker scholarship.
