Nancy Menan Foundation Scholars

The Western Colorado University Foundation, a nonprofit corporation established to provide private support of Western Colorado University, announces The Nancy Menan Foundation Scholars Program. The funds for this program are donated to the Foundation by Western alumni, friends and parents.

This scholarship is a highly competitive scholarship for incoming students. The Western Colorado University Foundation, a non-profit corporation established to provide private support of Western, began this premiere scholarship in 1997. The goal of the program is to encourage and reward both academic and leadership excellence at Western. The funds for this program are donated to the Foundation by Western alumni, friends, and parents. In 2017 the fund became endowed through gifts made by the estate of Nancy Menan.

Eligible candidates should have a high school, transfer or Western grade point average of, at minimum, 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Candidates must also demonstrate leadership qualities or experience.
This award provides a $4,000 scholarship to a freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior Western student (one scholarship per class). Students can be resident or non-resident students. With few exceptions, one new Menan Foundation Scholar is named each year from the incoming freshman class.

The scholarship is renewable for non-seniors if the student maintains a 3.5 grade point average or above, contributes their leadership abilities as a student, submits a brief letter outlining these accomplishments each year, and fulfils their agreed upon requirements when they accepted the scholarship.
