Charles Walker Jr. Memorial Music Scholarship

The Charles R. Walker Jr. Memorial Music Scholarship has been established by family and friends to provide scholarship assistance to Western Colorado University students majoring in music. This scholarship serves to honor Charles, who died on November 24th, 2011.
Charles, known as “Chuck” to most, was born (1925) and raised in Gunnison, Colorado. His father was a Botany professor at Western State College. Chuck attended Western and graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering, but music has always been his great love. He played trumpet in many bands and orchestras throughout his life, some at Western, and sung in many choirs.

Check helped many people who needed financial assistance, and we believe honoring him with a music scholarship will help carry on his legacy of someone who loved music and enjoyed helping others, especially young people, fulfill their dreams.

  • Be full-time at Western
