Marsha T. & Pat T. Julio Memorial Scholarship
Family and friends created this scholarship in memory of Marsha Julio, wife of long-time Western Art Professor Pat Julio, for outstanding junior and senior female Art Students. This scholarship serves to honor Mrs. Julio as an accomplished artist, student of nature, and exuberant lover of life.
Marsha and Pat Julio first met at University of New Mexico in 1950. He thought she looked like a “square” and she thought he looked like a “hippie.” Shortly thereafter, they fell in love and were married in 1952. Pat came to work for Western in 1956 and taught art and anthropology full time until 1987.
Marsha was an accomplished artist, and her works were displayed in numerous exhibitions and can be found in many private collections. She had a fondness for the mountains and the valleys of Colorado, and her love of Gunnison Country was evident in her work. Marsha passed away in 1995.
Pat passed away January 2, 2013. Upon his passing the family renamed the scholarship to the “Marsha T. and Pat T. Julio Memorial Art Scholarship” in order to honor the legacies of both Marsha and Pat.
