Kim Martig Scholarship

The Kim Martig Scholarship has been established by Dr. Jody Coleman to provide scholarship
assistance to Western Colorado University students in honor of Kim Martig, who was a student
at Western from 1975-1980 majoring in Health Physical Education and Recreation. Kim was an
outstanding athlete leading the women’s volleyball team, basketball team, and swim team. Dr.
Jody Coleman and Kim Martig were teammates and friends during their overlap at Western.

Because of Kim’s deep appreciation and respect for those who care for disabled populations, the
Kim Martig Scholarship’s intention is to provide financial support to a student each year that
demonstrates their commitment to helping and caring for elderly or disabled populations. This
may be demonstrated in a wide range of ways, some examples may include working for a
business or organization whose mission is to care for this population, clearing walkways from
snow, ice and leaves, caring for a yard, picking up or sending out mail, assisting in technology
use, running errands, grocery shopping and fixing meals, transportation, arranging activities or
decorating for holidays.
