Paul Urban "Legends of Industry" Scholarship

The Paul Urban “Legends of Industry” Scholarship Endowment has been established by Paul’s wife, Ann Marie, and Eric McGlone and other friends to provide scholarship assistance to Western students participating in the Professional Land and Resource Management Program. This scholarship serves to honor Paul Urban, an indust1y leader who graduated from Western in 1979. Paul began his successful career in the oil and gas business as an environmental scientist later switching positions to become a landman with Texas Oil & Gas Corporation. Over the following years he worked in management and executive capacities with various oil and gas companies before forming his own company in 2004. Paul was known throughout the industry for his gregarious manner and was well respected for his creativity and generosity.

ELIGIBILITY:
A. Must submit a resume with extracurricular activities.
B. GPA must be at least a 3 .3.
C. Recipients may renew their scholarship each year, but must retain a 3.3 GPA or better.
D. Monies received under this scholarship must be used towards tuition only. If students already have enough scholarships, then they cannot apply.
E. This will be an academic based scholarship, available for any full-time Western student participating in the Professional Land and Resource Management Program.
F. The following questions, short answer (less than 150 words each) are required:

* What makes you different from the rest of your classmates?
* What is the hardest life obstacle you have ever had to overcome and how did you do it?
* How do you make a positive difference in someone’s life every single day?
