Denver Association Petroleum Landmen Scholarship

The Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen Scholarship was established by the John S. Long Scholarship Fund of the Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen (DAPL) to assist Western full-time juniors and seniors enrolled in the Energy Management Program.

John Long was a well-known and well-loved Landman whose untimely passing during the summer of 2006 left an empty space in the heart of the entire Denver oil community. Called to action by their respect of his memory, a group of Johns friends contacted the DAPL and formed a separate entity to honor Johns memory and the DAPL Scholarship Fund. This entity now comprises the flagship John S. Long Scholarship Fund, the Bill Goodman Scholarship Fund and the Cappy Ricks Fund. The inaugural year of disbursing scholarship awards from the John S. Long Scholarship Fund was 2007 and the DAPL is honored to contribute scholarships to young landmen who represent the future of the industry. This fund is designated to last for many years so that we are able to make annual scholarship awards to qualified students. Priority will be given to students from Western Colorado University due to DAPLs desire to promote the Landmen profession from Rocky Mountain located universities.
