Pre-Health Scholarship
The eligibility requirements for the Pre-Health Scholarship are as follows:
-Must be an incoming freshman that has a clearly defined interest in pursuing a profession within healthcare. Fields of interest may include, but are not limited to, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, registered dietitian nutritionist, etc.
-Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (non-weighted)
-Preference will be given to female students
-Preference will be given to under-represented minorities
-Preference will be given to first generation students
-Preference will be given to students that attend the March 24th Preview Day and an associated healthcare networking event
This cycle, the Preview Day and the healthcare networking event will be hosted on March 24, 2023. For more details about Preview Day, visit this webpage: https://admissions.western.edu/portal/preview_day. I will provide all applicants with more information about the healthcare networking event as the date draws closer. Please be advised that attendance at this event is just one of many preference points. Although we would love for you to attend this event, we realize that scheduling/travel challenges may make it impossible for some individuals.
Scholarship recipients will be awarded $2,500 per year for up to 4 years. Of note, there are requirements that scholarship awardees must fulfill in order to maintain their scholarship eligibility (i.e. overall GPA >/= 3.3, science GPA >/= 3.3, continued interest in healthcare, etc). These will be clearly communicated to the scholarship recipient before the award is finalized.
