Mariah Besecker Green Memorial Scholarship

The Mariah Besecker Green Memorial Scholarship has been established by Mariah’sparents, Gloria and Rick Besecker and her husband, Christian Green to provide scholarship assistance to Western Colorado University students. This scholarship serves to memorialize Mariah Besecker Green, a charismatic and hard-working woman of Western Colorado University, Western Foundation and the Gunnison community that she loved.

Mariah, a 2006 Western Alumna, carried her passion for Western into her career as an admissions counselor, academic advisor and career services coordinator at Western Colorado University and annual gifts officer at the Western Foundation. Her most beloved job was being a mother. After a hard-fought battle with cancer, her family is honoring her life and passion for Western through this scholarship. Mariah always pulled for the underdogs that pulled for themselves and this scholarship is to support Western student’sthat encompass the same drive and energy that Mariah had in her life.

A. Must be full-time students maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or above
B. Be a driven and focused individual
C. Must hold at least a sophomore status and have attended Western for their first year
D. Can demonstrate a commitment to service and/or work in the community/University
