She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in School Supervision from the University of Iowa. She came to Gunnison in 1927 as a first grade teacher. In 1953, she earned an MA from Western Colorado University. Her teaching career spanned thirty years, beginning at age 17 and ending at age 66. In 1974, the Gunnison County Chamber of Commerce named her “Citizen of the Year” for her work done in planning and building of the new library. Her leadership and many years of work with the public library were recognized when Gunnison County named its library “The Ann Zugelder Public Library” in 1985.
