Barr Foundation Scholarship
Robert M. Barr and Roberta Armstrong Barr provide scholarships to students preparing to become teachers at both Western Colorado University and Fort Lewis College in Durango.
Mr. and Mrs. Barr were life-long residents of Colorado. Both lived and worked in south-west Colorado for 80+ years. Robert was a rancher and beekeeper. Roberta was a teacher, principal, and gardener. Roberta attended Fort Lewis College and obtained her teaching degree. She eventually would earn her Bachelor’s degree in Education and her Master’s degree in Public School Administration from Western Colorado University. Her teaching career began in small, one-room schoolhouses and continued for 40+ years teaching in Colorado’s Animas River Valley area.
