Valerie Mitchell English Scholarship

The Valerie Ann Mitchell Memorial English Scholarship Fund has been established by an anonymous donor utilizing 90% of the interest earned to fund an annual scholarship to accomplish three major purposes:

- Perpetuate among contemporary young people the memory of Valerie Ann Mitchell, who left an outstanding example of performance in scholarship and citizenship.
- To reward outstanding scholarship and citizenship among junior-class students of Western Colorado University who have chosen English as a major and who most clearly manifest success in pursuing their personal goals of self improvement and the goals of Western Colorado University
- To encourage those outstanding students to continue their efforts at Western

ELIGIBILITY:
Only students who have demonstrated the highest standards of personal conduct, leadership within the division, academic achievement, and potential for service to mankind will be considered
- At the time of select-ion, recipients of Mitchell Memorial English
Scholarships must:
- Be actively pursuing a declared English major at Western
State College
- Full-time student in good standing at Western
- GPA of at least 3.5 in a minimum of 75 credits, at least 30 from Western
