Jacob Baker Memorial Geology Student Field Studies

The Jacob Baker Memorial Geology Field Studies Fund was established by Jacob’s parents, Wesley R. Baker and Suzanne Goldstein Baker, family and friends in March 2018 to provide assistance to Western Colorado University geology students. This fund serves to celebrate the memory of Jacob “Jake” Wesley Baker while providing Western’s future geologists the field learning experiences that sparked and inspired him.

This endowment fund has been established to enhance opportunities for future geology students to share Jake’s legacy of experiential learning. The themes addressed by the fund couldn’t be more appropriate. Jake was dedicated to his fellow students, and that bond was manifest most completely on the rocks and around the fires of many camps across the Rocky Mountains and Basin and Range.

The fund is intended to enhance and promote participation in various course-related field studies, including the summer Field Geology course.

This fund is more than simply a gift to provide financial aid. It is a message of encouragement that donors believe in you, your gifts and talents and your bright future. This fund is an investment in you and the dividends will be all that you become. You are more than a scholarship recipient, you are a part of a legacy in making the world a better place. We hope that one day you will be in a position to enjoy helping students and create your own legacy
