The Borick Business Scholarship Endowment was established in 2001 by Louis Borick on behalf of his son, Steven Borick, (’75), to provide scholarship assistance for Western Colorado University students through the Department of Business, Accounting & Economics. This scholarship is intended to serve students with great potential, who will likely follow in the footsteps of Steve and Louis to become accomplished and respected business leaders.

Steven’s message to everyone that receives this scholarship would be… You may feel that your education will never end, and you are correct. Western Colorado University will give you a solid mainframe of knowledge and practices, but upon graduation, you will enter into another stage of learning. However, because of the education you receive through Western Colorado University, the next stage will not be easier, but it will be more comprehensible with a higher level of understanding.

Steven began his education in Gunnison based on having fun, but quickly found out that he loved the level of education he was receiving with the small classes and the great educators that Western had on staff. School became the greatest asset for him and Gunnison country added to it.

The spirit of this scholarship is captured in these words.

Believe in yourself. Believe in positive surroundings.
